SABRAO is an association of plant and animal breeders in the Asia and Pacific Region. The primary objective of the Society is to foster communication among scientists working in plant and animal breeding and genetics.  To this end, an international congress is held every four years, and the Society publishes a scientific journal, the SABRAO Journal of Breeding and Genetics, which is refereed to international standards.  The journal promotes the exchange of research information on the breeding of plants and animals. Original and review articles, technical news, short communications, and other types of papers consistent with the general aims of SABRAO will be accepted or invited for publication.

The most recent meeting of the Society, the 11th SABRAO Congress, was held from 10-14 August 2009 at the Cairns Convention Centre, Tropical North Queensland, Australia in conjunction with the 14th Australasian Plant Breeding Conference (APBC).  Post meeting reports include the following:
